What is World Building?
For artists, the term world building means the ability to design the look and feel of an environment this is very similar to VisDev . In this mentorship, we will discuss how to come-up with interesting worlds. We will also go over exactly how to research specific references that will help you execute that vision.
Mentorship's Overview
Main Objective
By the end of this course, you will know how to create appealing environment design concept art for the animation industry. Particularly 3D features. But the principles will apply to 2D as well. You will know what art directors and hiring managers look for in a portfolio and how to draw in a way that makes you a strong candidate for visual development roles.
Outcome after the mentorship
1 or 2 solid portfolio pieces tailored to the animation industry. As you continue to practice these lessons and assignments on your own you can continue to craft an entire VisDev portfolio.
Theme
We will be working with a theme; which will help you to focus on your creative efforts. This simulates a real studio environment where you will be working with an idea for a story. The theme is Shipwreck. A family is shipwrecked on an island and has to take shelter with the objects they can scavenge from the ship and the natural resources of the island.
